To Everyone Who Values Wildlife Rehabilitation:

I am writing to tell you about our upcoming national Symposium March 13–17, 2012, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and to ask for your financial support. NWRA and our host, Wings of Hope Wildlife Sanctuary, are producing another high–caliber event with the attention to detail that achieves the NWRA Quality of Excellence. 2012 is NWRA’s 30th Anniversary! We are celebrating 30 years of successfully providing specialized training, information, and resources to wildlife rehabilitators, veterinarians, and educators. Our organization has a recognized tradition of presenting excellent national educational events since 1982, and Symposium 2012 is no exception!

We take pride in offering useful, practical, and current information that improves wildlife care and release. Since wildlife rehabilitation requires a multi-disciplinary approach, we must draw from many professions and adapt information and techniques for wild animals to survive after release.

We need your help to keep costs down for the dedicated and selfless people who have special talents and skills and who desire additional training. These very special people provide the best care for injured and orphaned wildlife with the goal of keeping the animals wild and releasing them back into natural habitats. Every dollar you donate helps offset the costs of this much–needed education for wildlife rehabilitators.

Wildlife rehabilitators are extraordinary people who do amazing things! They are very special health care providers! But, because most wildlife rehabilitators fund their activities through small public donations and their own personal funds, many have no travel budgets or conference expense accounts. Offering excellent training at suitable facilities for affordable prices continues to be a high priority for NWRA—we are making a special effort to hold down fees this year. Thanks to volunteers and to donations like yours, NWRA is able to keep the member registration fee at only $120...for four days!

However, as each year goes by, finding a symposium facility that has the required space and that everyone can afford is getting extremely difficult, and this year is no different. In 2012, in order to achieve our goals, $20,000 must be raised from sponsorship donations. This is more than the amount raised for any prior Symposium. Please help NWRA meet this important goal!
