NWRA - Improving Wildlife Care
YES! Your donation is important! Together we can help more animals!
Your contribution to NWRA will help injured and orphaned wildlife by helping wildlife rehabilitators – those who provide professional and compassionate care to each individual animal.
NWRA assists wildlife rehabilitators, veterinarians, and educators through these important services:
- Published materials to help wildlife rehabilitators, veterinarians, and educators give wildlife the very best care
- Annual 4-day national symposium that is recognized as the largest and most comprehensive in the field, especially known for expert and experienced speakers and hands-on skill workshops
- Scholarships to deserving individuals for symposium attendance, purchasing publications, and building appropriate caging
- Small grants to fund studies and research in the field that improve wildlife care and survival
NWRA – Saving Wild Lives – One at a Time
Your donation is critical to the success of wildlife rehabilitation! You can help provide what is not otherwise available!
Did you know?
- Very few schools teach wildlife rehabilitation
- Very few veterinary schools teach the special techniques needed for treating wildlife
- Wildlife rehabilitation and medicine techniques, and specialized care regimens are not available in traditional classes and textbooks
- Wildlife rehabilitation uses a complex combination of techniques from many different disciplines including biology, ecology, behavior, animal science, nutrition, veterinary medicine, zoo animal husbandry, and more.
- Accepted norms in biology, medicine, behavior, nutrition, natural history, and housing design have been modified and adapted to fit the unique needs of rehabilitating injured, orphaned, and diseased native wildlife held temporarily in captivity with the goal of releasing healthy animals back into suitable natural habitat
- Most wildlife rehabilitators learn through NWRA by attending symposia, reading and referencing publications and training manuals, and networking with other members
- NWRA is the primary source of current and reliable resources to help wildlife rehabilitators improve techniques and procedures
- Most wildlife rehabilitators not only do wildlife rehabilitation on a volunteer basis, but also use their own money to purchase the necessary food, housing, and medical treatments
- Most wildlife rehabilitators are also educators, responding to calls from concerned citizens and teaching educational programs
- Wildlife rehabilitators are extremely dedicated and selfless people!
NWRA strives to provide high quality materials and services at the lowest possible price to help more people help more wild animals.
You can help us do this through a financial contribution to NWRA.
