|Michigan Wildlife Rehabilitator Continuing Education Scholarship|
$500 US Dollars
Application Period: August 1-October 1
The Michigan Wildlife Rehabilitator Continuing Education Scholarship assists a Michigan-permitted wildlife rehabilitator to attend the NWRA annual symposium and take (at least) one workshop that may count as continuing education credit required by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for permit renewal. One $500 scholarship may be awarded annually. This scholarship is given through NWRA by Michigan Wildlife Rehabilitators Association.
The scholarship recipient is responsible for registering in a timely manner to guarantee a seat in the limited enrollment seminars and workshops. Michigan DNR-recognized continuing education includes the limited enrollment seminars and hands-on workshops which require separate advance sign-up, for which attendance is taken and a certificate of completion is awarded. Lectures, discussions, and/or sessions where anyone may walk in and listen DO NOT qualify.
Applicants must be currently permitted by the state of Michigan Department of Natural Resources to rehabilitate wildlife. Preference is given to primary, individual permit holders over subpermittees.
Completely fill out the application form (in English please), and include a copy of your Michigan wildlife rehabilitation permit and two (2) signed recommendation letters.
The application deadline is October 1 and the recipient is notified by January 1. The award is announced and presented at the membership meeting at the Symposium. Scholarship recipients are asked to write a paragraph or two for the NWRA newsletter summarizing their experiences due to receiving this scholarship.
