Donald L. Burton Veterinary Student Scholarship |
Application Period: August 1 - October 1 The Donald L. Burton Veterinary Student Scholarship is given to enhance the education of a veterinary student interested in working with wildlife. One scholarship is awarded annually to help defray expenses of attending the NWRA symposium. This scholarship is given through NWRA by friends of Dr. Burton to honor his contributions to wildlife medicine and his passion for helping sick and injured wildlife. Application is open to veterinary students who demonstrate a desire to help wildlife and meet the award requirements. Completely fill out the application form (in English please) and include two signed letters of recommendation as well as proof of current student status. If sending signed recommendation letters separately, please include the applicant's name with each letter. The application deadline is October 1 and the recipient is notified by January 1. The award is announced and presented at the symposium. Recipients are expected to attend at least three full days of the symposium (may include pre-conference seminar). NWRA reserves the right to withhold scholarship fund disbursement if attendance requirement is not fulfilled. Scholarship recipients are asked to write a paragraph or two for the NWRA newsletter summarizing their experiences due to receiving the scholarship.
