Lifetime Achievement Award
Share |

The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual whose primary identification is with wildlife rehabilitation and who has contributed to the field on a national level for many years.  NWRA Achievement Awards are presented at the annual NWRA Symposium banquet.

When nominating someone for this award, please give a compelling case listing how they have impacted the field on a national level. The nomination will be strengthened if supplemental letters of support are included. In addition, please provide two references who may be contacted by the Awards Committee.

The "field of wildlife rehabilitation" includes wildlife rehabilitators, veterinarians, educators, and others who work in and contribute to our field. The field affects people on a national and/or international level, therefore, the nomination must make a good case for how the nominee contributed on a national/international scope, or at least a scope wider than local or statewide.

Examples of major contributions to the field:

  • speaking and/or presenting workshops at multiple state and national conferences
  • publishing more than once in national periodicals or books widely available
  • serving in a leadership role on a national or state board of directors where the field has been improved
  • coordinating and managing wildlife rehabilitation conferences open to national attendance, or where handouts, papers, and educational materials are widely available
  • creating quality website information
  • developing and distributing curriculum materials for the field
  • development and distributing educational materials for the public that helps wildlife and wildlife rehabilitators
